# Quickstart

> Start the Plant Care API and make your first requests.

## Prerequisites

Make sure you have [Node.js](https://nodejs.org) installed.

## Get up and running

<Steps>
  <Step title="Install dependencies">
    Clone the repo and install packages.

    ```bash theme={null}
    npm install
    ```
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start the API">
    ```bash theme={null}
    npm start
    ```

    The API will be running at `http://localhost:3000`.

  <Step title="List your plants">
    ```bash theme={null}
    curl http://localhost:3000/plants
    ```

    You'll get back the current plants.

  <Step title="Add a plant">
    ```bash theme={null}
    curl -X POST http://localhost:3000/plants \
